Nalani Makua Andresen, 57, of Hilo died Saturday, March 31, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a community service fundraiser for various charitable services and a sales representative for Na Makua Original Hawaiian Designs. Memorial service Sunday at the Salvation Army Church (219 Ponahawai St., Hilo) from 1-3 p.m. Survived by father, Joseph Makua of Honolulu; brother, Nelson (Linda) Makua of Keaau; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Paul Lurbin Caplener Jr., 48, of Hilo died April 18 at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a former member of the Kalanianaole Athletic Club Yankees in Honolulu and coach of the Wanderers and Orioles Baseball Teams and Hilo High School Girls Softball Team. Andrew “Andy” Apau San Akina Kahili, 78, of Hilo died Thursday, April 19, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was formally a machinist with Hilo Iron Works, a factory superintendent with Hilo Coast Processing Mill, a substitute janitor with Chiefess Kapiolani School, and a security officer with Aloha Security. A graduate of Kamehameha Schools; he was a former member of numerous bowling leagues and the Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association. Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Thursday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo; Service at 5 p.m. Graveside committal at 10 a.m. Friday at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua section. Casual attire. Katsuki Sunada, 88, of Puueopaku, Papaikou, died April 18 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Puueopaku, he was a retired police officer from the Hawaii Police Department, U.S. Army World War II veteran and member of Papaikou Hongwanji Mission. Private services held.
